First World vs Third World

Fidelity is moving out of MA, and here is Patric Deval's reaction to it on Boston Herald .A phrase from the article...“I want them to say that to my face, and I want to see whether there is something we can do,” .
On other side of the globe, There is a suspension of three MLA's from TRS in my home state for cross voting in MLC elections..reason, They migt have taken bribes..Allegedly 4 crores ($1 Million) and cross voted for other party candidates...I'm pessimistic that in my life time I can see individuals with high morals in public office or in congress especially in AP. As Sandra .B in her oscar speech says "how much enough is enough".

Practical Patriotism

On Saturday I attended Loksatta Party's discussion on local governance. It was Q&A session presided by JP and Mr Ankaiah. While answering one of the questions JP pointed to a word
'Practical Patriotism'. Patriotism doesn't necessarily mean sacrifice or dying for one's country but being aware of common problems of the society and constantly working towards simple & achievable targets. Working towards one's own society with a clear list of objectives and actionable agenda shouldn't be a problem, though we cant equal it with the sacrifice of 5000 US soldiers who died in Iraq war, still 'practical patriotism' is all what we need than that vague 'Patriotism'. A salute to all the brave departed souls.

US Elections

Joseph Lieberman won against his own party candidate Ted Lamont in Connecticut election. Though Ted defeated Lieberman in primaries he lost to him in the main race to senate. One quite contrasting thing we got to note here is when a candidate rebels here in India he is branded as rebel, expelled from party. now thats what we call disciplinary action..wow! long live internal party democracy.

I happened to see this good presentation today from one of the blogs. somewhere in
2000 - 2001 in the height of techboom I thought of setting up a B2B website, but the enthusiasm
got down due to tech meltdown in 2001. well its almost 5 years passed since my initial infatuation
with web.
Now i can see the emerging clarity of what works n whot not. In 2001 it was a mad rush, I still remember one famous biz guru from Kellog biz school professing death of rediff.com in one month..surprise it still there.
Sincere advice from UTUBE guys is that dont trust 'Experts'..watch it your self
